I Impress You Game

Our “let me impress you” game started right when we met. It usually takes a few extra miles before you can actually say it all out. For us, the beginning of the game was very easy, as our friends John and Roberto constantly gave away hints and signals that we should get to know each other. We must admit that we are indebted to John and Roberto as well, as we are to Veronica and Eve. We say to both Roberto and John,

“Only a small part is played in great deeds by any hero.”

Andrew had to frequently travel between Sheffield and Manchester for us to understand one another and figure out if we could be a good match. Jay as well wanted to travel to Sheffield as much as Andrew did, to share the travel burden, but Andrew would always be against that.

Of course, our mutual friends – being our close knit circle – gave us a special comfort zone that nothing can go wrong. Still, we both had to make some extra effort to consciously relate that we are from different ethnic backgrounds, and our habits and the way we interpret / do certain things might differ. It was this dynamic that we had to discuss whenever we had a situation that could lead us to a misunderstanding. To our surprise it felt like we were seeing the inside of us and dating what’s inside of us rather than seeing each other as a separate human being. It is very fortunate that our interests, likes, dislikes and don’t knows are very similar.

  1. Congratulations Andrew and Jay. Sounds like it was meant to be right from the start! May you both grow in love for one another and may the joys and challenges of married life bring you closer together with every passing year. God bless and keep you always.
